Calgary to Indio,CA-- March 31 to April 8th
March 31st Last night Ralph and I flew into Palm Springs from Calgary. Brian and Gary were at the airport to meet us at 10:30p.m. It was still 82 Deg. F. Great to be back to the warm weather. We invited the Regans,Howells and Graham for breakfast at Shields Date Farm. Very hot day 96 deg. F. We went for a swim with everyone before going to supper at the Soup Plantation. April 1st We said our good byes to the Howells,Regans and the rest of the gang. All are heading back to Calgary. Extremely hot day 103 Deg. F /42Deg. C. We went to Costco and afterwards a much needed dip in the swimming pool. After supper we visited with Howard and Janet Schinkel (Cochrane) staying at the resort. April 2nd We packed up and moved over to Rancho Casa Blanca RV Resort in Indio. John & Lynda Brooks and Gerald & Bev Fernquist are staying here to the middle of April. The Resort is absolutely beautiful with over 800 large sites. Each site is individually owned and has mostly park models. An executive par 3, 18 hole golf course runs through the park. The Brooks had us over for happy hour. Still hot at 93 Deg.F. April 3rd Ralph and I went to the College of the Desert Street Fair in Palm Desert for about 3 hours. We managed to spend a bit of $$. We stopped at Walmart to buy groceries. The Brooks stopped by on their bikes. Windy but warm 84 Deg. F. April 4th It was in the 90's today but no wind. Ralph biked around the resort while I cleaned. There are 4 satellite swimming pools, laundries, etc. besides the two main ones. We picked up the Brooks and went to the Fantasy Springs Casino. We were both lucky ( especially Ralph winning about $100.00 on the penny slots). April 5th ( Happy Birthday, Brian) The owners of our site dropped by to collect their money. We are booked here until April 11th. Ralph and I went to the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway. It has the world's largest rotating tram cars(2) holding 80 people each. We went from 2600 feet at the valley station to over 8500 feet at the mountain station. The views from the top of San Jacinto State Park are breath taking----Palm Springs and the Desert cities below, over 10,ooo wind mills in the valley, the Salton Sea 35 miles away, the San Andreas fault and of course the mountains. We had a tasty lunch too. Well worthwhile experience. We shopped at Costco on the way home. Sunny 92 Deg. F. April 6th Ralph went golfing at the resort with John and Gerald. Bev picked Lynda and I up to go shopping at the Target Superstore. Cloudy and rain showers in the afternoon 80 Deg. F. April 7th Sunny and windy 24 Deg. C in Indio. Ralph and I drove 40 miles to Cabazon/Desert Hills Premium Outlet Stores. Cool and cloudy 13-15 Deg. C. but great shopping. On the way back to our Resort we had 4 new tires installed on our truck at Costco (less expensive than Calgary). In the evening we played indoor shuffleboard with the Brooks and Fernquists. April 8th Ralph played golf with the boys again while I cleaned. Howard,Janet and their daughter Amber (visiting from Calgary)came for lunch and a visit. Afterwards I did 3 loads of laundry.Ralph had a swim in the pool. Cooler day 74 Deg.F. windy and cloudy.
