Hemet CA April 19th to 27th

April 19th (belated Happy 41st Anniversary Gary and Karen)


Cloudy and cooler 68 Deg. F. I had my hair cut at the Hemet Mall. I roasted a chicken-- very good. We did the blog and we rode our bikes around the resort and Ralph golfed at the resort putting green.


April 20th


We went to the Hemet Mall and shopped at J.C. Penney's and Sears. My sister Janet phoned --Mom and Janet will come to visit us May 25th to June 9th. Karilee will fly in June 2nd to 5th.
It will be wonderful to have them visit us. We went to potato night at the resort.


April 21th


Cool and overcast again. We drove over to Cabazon-Desert Hills Premium Factory Outlet Stores. We managed to spend a little money. We played shuffleboard in the evening.


April 22nd (Good Friday)


We had French toast/bacon at the resort's breakfast. In the afternoon we listened to a singer and had a hamburger around the pool. Sunny 74 Deg. F. We played shuffleboard with the Friday night players.


April 23rd


In the morning we went to two markets--- Downtown Hemet and the Winchester Mexican market(especially interesting selling beds to roosters and everything in between). We had lunch and listened to music around the pool. They have entertainment Friday and Saturdays 11 to 2 pm at this time of year. In the evening we went to see the movie "Water for Elephants"-- very good.


April 24 ( Happy Easter)


It rained during the night and there was a light drizzel in the morning. I made a large roaster full of scallop potatoes. We went to the Easter Dinner in the resort ballroom. It was pot luck with GVP supplying the hams. Very good evening.


April 25th


Sunny and warm finally 80 Deg. F. We biked around the resort and then went to the pool. Ralph and I played shuffleboard later on.


April 26th


We did some grocery shopping and we spent a warm afternoon at the pool. Don and Gerri (from Victoria B.C.) invited us for a happy hour at 4pm. After supper we played shuffleboard again.


April 27th


A hot day 92 Deg. F. We did laundry.We decided to stay for another four days. We will leave for home Sunday May 1st. We enjoyed another beautiful day relaxing,reading,swimming and having fun around the pool.It may be awhile before we see warm weather like this at home.We are taking advantage of the time we have at Golden Village Palms.

Indio to Hemet, CA---April 9th to 18th

April 9th


Ralph and I golfed at the Resorts par 3 exceutive 18 hole course before noon.
It was a lot of fun and a warm day in the low 80's. The resort is beautiful. We had a date shake at Shields Date Farm after shopping at Walmart. John,Lynda,Bev, and Gerald came over for appetizers and drinks.

April 10th


Sunny 84 deg. F. We went over to Target and the Big Lots stores in the morning. We drove our bicycles over to the main clubhouse and went for a swim in the afternoon. Later we sat in the beautiful garden area of the Jackalope Restaurant enjoying margaritas and dinner with the Brook's and the Fernquist's.

April 11th


We packed up and said goodby to the Brook's and Fernquist's. It is a 1.5 hour drive from Indio to Golden Village Palms Resort in Hemet. We went for a swim in the 3 pools and 3 hot tubs low 80's.
Howard and Janet Schinkel joined us for dinner at Coco's restaurant.


April 12th


In the morning we went to the Hemet Mall. Ralph had a hair cut and Marie a pedicure and nails done. After grocery shopping we went for a swim. In the evening we played shuffleboard with Howard and Janet. GVP Resort has an awesome indoor tournament shuffleboard building with 8 courts.

April 13th


Cloudy and 69 Deg. F. Ralph made breakfast outside. We had quite a lazy day-reading and downloading photos. Ralph went to Lowe's and the Liquor Barn.


April 14th ( happy birthday Marie)


Woh! what a great day. It started with us picking Howard and Janet up at 9 am and getting home at 10:00 pm. We drove to "Old Town" Temecula (40 minutes away)--browsing,shopping,
having lunch and generally enjoying the atmosphere and weather (80 Deg.F).
We toured the Temecula Wine Country later in the afternoon. We had dinner at Pechanga Resort and Casino and played the slots. Thank you friends and family for all your good wishes on my birthday.


April 15th


We had breakfast in the resort ballroom. We enjoyed the whole afternoon around the pool and the Palms Cabana-swimming and listening to a country singer and having hamburgers. We went to the wine and cheese reception at 3:30 and shuffleboard in the evening.


April 16th


The Resort hosted a Classic Car Show,arts and craft vendors,beer from Belgium,Bavarian marching band and a chili cook-off 11 - 4 pm. It was a hot one over 90 Deg. F.
We went for a swim before going for good Chinese food with the Schinkels.


April 17th


We went grocery shopping at Walmart. We enjoyed the mid 80's temperature with the Schinkels around the pool. We invited them for supper.


April 18th


Howard and Janet were off to Sacramento for Easter before heading home. Because there has been snowstorms in Calgary and up north this past weekend,we decided to stay another 9 days. I did some laundry and then we went shopping at Target and the Dollar Store. Today was cooler, cloudy and some drizzling rain 68 Deg.F.

Calgary to Indio,CA-- March 31 to April 8th

March 31st Last night Ralph and I flew into Palm Springs from Calgary. Brian and Gary were at the airport to meet us at 10:30p.m. It was still 82 Deg. F. Great to be back to the warm weather. We invited the Regans,Howells and Graham for breakfast at Shields Date Farm. Very hot day 96 deg. F. We went for a swim with everyone before going to supper at the Soup Plantation. April 1st We said our good byes to the Howells,Regans and the rest of the gang. All are heading back to Calgary. Extremely hot day 103 Deg. F /42Deg. C. We went to Costco and afterwards a much needed dip in the swimming pool. After supper we visited with Howard and Janet Schinkel (Cochrane) staying at the resort. April 2nd We packed up and moved over to Rancho Casa Blanca RV Resort in Indio. John & Lynda Brooks and Gerald & Bev Fernquist are staying here to the middle of April. The Resort is absolutely beautiful with over 800 large sites. Each site is individually owned and has mostly park models. An executive par 3, 18 hole golf course runs through the park. The Brooks had us over for happy hour. Still hot at 93 Deg.F. April 3rd Ralph and I went to the College of the Desert Street Fair in Palm Desert for about 3 hours. We managed to spend a bit of $$. We stopped at Walmart to buy groceries. The Brooks stopped by on their bikes. Windy but warm 84 Deg. F. April 4th It was in the 90's today but no wind. Ralph biked around the resort while I cleaned. There are 4 satellite swimming pools,laundries,etc. besides the two main ones. We picked up the Brooks and went to the Fantasy Springs Casino. We were both lucky ( especially Ralph winning about $100.00 on the penny slots). April 5th ( Happy Birthday, Brian) The owners of our site dropped by to collect their money. We are booked here until April 11th. Ralph and I went to the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway. It has the world's largest rotating tram cars(2) holding 80 people each. We went from 2600 feet at the valley station to over 8500 feet at the mountain station. The views from the top of San Jacinto State Park are breath taking----Palm Springs and the Desert cities below, over 10,ooo wind mills in the valley, the Salton Sea 35 miles away,the San Andreas fault and of course the mountains. We had a tasty lunch too. Well worthwhile experience. We shopped at Costco on the way home. Sunny 92 Deg. F. April 6th Ralph went golfing at the resort with John and Gerald. Bev picked Lynda and I up to go shopping at the Target Superstore. Cloudy and rain showers in the afternoon 80 Deg. F. April 7th Sunny and windy 24 Deg. C in Indio. Ralph and I drove 40 miles to Cabazon/Desert Hills Premium Outlet Stores. Cool and cloudy 13-15 Deg. C. but great shopping. On the way back to our Resort we had 4 new tires installed on our truck at Costco (less expensive than Calgary). In the evening we played indoor shuffleboard with the Brooks and Fernquists. April 8th Ralph played golf with the boys again while I cleaned. Howard,Janet and their daughter Amber (visiting from Calgary)came for lunch and a visit. Afterwards I did 3 loads of laundry.Ralph had a swim in the pool. Cooler day 74 Deg.F. windy and cloudy.
