Yuma, AZ & Los Algodones,Mexico

Jan. 6th to 12th

Jan. 6th
Last night we enjoyed the Karaoke Superstar Contest in the Palms ballroom [every Wednesday 7-9 p.m.]. We went to the Arizona Market and picked up a few things. Afterwards we had a good visit with Al Kane at the Westwinds RV Resort. Al is a friend from Westbank, B.C. who we have not seen in 30 years.
Sid and Carol arrived at the resort from Las Vegas and we went out to dinner with them.

Jan 7th
We played two games of shuffleboard in the morning. Carol and I toured around the resort and bought some tickets for some shows at the resort.

Jan 8th
We enjoyed a sunny 70 deg. F day at the burger bash at the resort from noon to 3 pm.
We got a hamburger and all the beer you could drink for $2.50. and listened to a live band.
Lots of fun in the sun. In the evening we went to the Greg Bonham concert in the ballroom.
He is a Australian singer and trumpet player out of Las Vegas.

Jan.9th
Sid, Carol, Ralph and I went to the market place. It is open every Thursday to Sunday,8 am to 6 pm. We had lunch and listened to a live band at the market. The internet is sporadic so we went to the resort library and uploaded our photos to the blog.

Jan.10th
Ralph was at the shuffleboard courts at 7 am to help clean and get things ready for a 10 am start . Lunch was at Peter Piper Pizza. Dave's mobile wash and wax did our 5th wheel and truck. Great job for $100.00 (saved Marie a lot of scrubbing). We heard from the Howell's and Regan's.They are staying a couple of days in the Lake Havasu area. Sid and Carol invited us for supper. Afterwards we played the card game "oh hell".

Jan. 11th
We drove 15 miles to the USA/Mexican border. We walked across the border and shopped for bargains in Los Algodones, Mexico. We bought Kahlua and vanilla as well. We had a delicious lunch of shrimp tacos,margaritas/pina coladas while listening to a Mexican band. A
fun day.

Jan. 12th
We played shuffleboard in the morning(every Monday,Wednesday and Friday 10 to 12 am).
In the afternoon we drove out to the Imperial Dam and stopped for a date shake at the Imperial Date Farm. Very tasty. Carol and I split 11 lbs of dates. A UPS parcel arrived from our friends John and Sherryl from Louisiana. Thank you. The pralines are great. We enjoyed the musical talents at the Karaoke Superstar Contest. Afterwards we played the"oh hell"card game @ Sid & Carol's until after midnight.
We are really enjoying The Palms Resort--lots of activities, large R.V.sites,friendly people, etc.
The weather is sunny with a bit of wind at times.72 deg F/23 deg C today. It is suppose to be in the high 70's for the next week.It sounds wonderful!!!
